In 2005, having obtained my photography degree as a mature student, I realised a long held dream of travelling along the Silk Road. Some of the images I took were exhibited at The KUBE, Poole in November 2008.
I travelled on public transport overland across Northern China from Beijing to Kashgar, Xianjiang, through Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan into Iran.
It was fascinating to see the differences and similarities between the various Turkic people that stretch across Central Asia between China and Turkey.
I was bowled over by the beauty of Kyrgystan, the magnificent ancient buildings of Uzbekistan and Iran, the overwhelming friendliness of the Iranian people and the wackiness of Turkmenistan. See blogs for more
