Egypt - after the revolution

travel galleries
I was very honoured to be in Egypt
at the time of the revolution.

I was unable to get to Cairo until two
days after Mubarak stepped down.

When I arrived there, I was welcomed
to the massive non-stop celebrations
that continued for several days.

I had expected to find a city in chaos
and destruction and was impressed to
see the youth painting  walls, railings,
street markings, cleaning, and
directing traffic - I’d never seen the
city centre so tidy!

Over the next few weeks the
celebrations continued the Egyptian
flag was everywhere or painted.

These images celebrate the joy and
the pride of being Egyptian that was
so evident in those early days.

A brief moment to feel hope before
the difficult times that everyone knew
would surely follow. See blogs for more
